At Create Color Art Studio, we believe creativity should be fun, relaxing and accessible-whether you’re six, sixteen or sixty.  You don’t need experience,

and you don’t need to know exactly what you want to make before you walk through the door.

 

Come in. Look around. Find something that inspires you.

 

We’ll provide the supplies, inspiration and help.  You bring the creativity.

 

 

OUR STORY

IT STARTED WITH SATURDAY MORNINGS AND A LITTLE CLAY.

 

Some of my earliest creative memories are from the 1970’s, when I spent Saturday mornings doing ceramics with my mom in a neighbor’s basement.

 

I still have some of the pieces we made all those years ago.

 

At the time, of course, I had no idea those Saturday mornings would eventually help inspire a business of my own.  I just knew I loved making something with my hands-and I loved the time we spent together doing it.

 

Years later, after owning several businesses in the area, I opened a gift shop featuring work made by New England artists.  Pottery was part of the mix,

and downstairs we began offering pottery painting birthday parties.

 

When it was time to close the gift shop, I wasn’t quite ready to leave that part behind.

 

I kept thinking about those birthday parties-and about my own memories of doing ceramics with my mom.

 

That’s where the idea for Create Color Art Studio began.

 

 

FROM A LITTLE STUDIO TO A LOT MORE CREATIVITY

 

Create opened in a small studio about half a mile from where we are today

 

Our first location was tucked into a seasonal plaza that many people didn’t even know was there.  Most of the surrounding businesses closed for the

winter, we couldn’t be seen from the road, and our studio was only about half the size of the space we have today.

 

It didn’t take long to realize two things:

 

We needed more room-and we wanted to do more.

 

In 2018, we moved into our current Narragansett location and gave Create room to grow.

 

And grow it did.

 

What began primarily with pottery painting expanded into clay, pottery wheel, fused glass, canvas, candles, resin and other creative experiences. 

We added classes, camps, parties, special events and programs that take creativity, beyond our studio and into schools, businesses and organizations throughout the state.

 

But the most important part of Create isn’t how many different things you can make here.

 

It is what happens while you are making them.

 

WHAT WE ARE MOST PROUD OF

 

Over the years, Create Color Art Studio has become more than the art studio I originally imagined.

 

It’s become part of our community.

 

It’s a place where families spend time together. Where friends catch up.  Where kids celebrate birthdays and milestones. Where adults try something

they’ve always wanted to try.  Where people come back year after year and traditions begin without anyone necessarily realizing  they’re becoming traditions.

 

And sometimes it’s simply a place to put down the phone, step away from everything else and just be for a while.

 

That’s what I’m most proud of.

 

When I think back to those Saturday mornings doing ceramics with my mom, I realize that what stayed with me wasn’t only what we made.

 

It was the time we spent together.

 

That’s what I hope people find when they walk through the doors at Create Color Art Studio.

 

Make something. Spend time together. Celebrate something special. Try something new. Disconnect for a while.

 

And maybe, years from now, you’ll still have what you made-and remember who was sitting beside you when you made it.

 

I know I do.

 

MORE THAN A POTTERY STUDIO

THERE’S ALWAYS SOMETHING NEW TO CREATE.

 

Pottery painting may be where many people start, but there’s a whole lot more happening at Create Color Art Studio.

 

Paint pottery.  Get your hands dirty with clay.  Try the pottery wheel. Design with fused glass. Pour a candle. Create with resin. Or discover something completely new.

 

We are always exploring new projects, techniques and creative experiences to give you another reason to come back and make something.

 

Because sometimes the best answer to “What should we do today?” is “Let’s go make something.”

Creativity doesn’t mean you have to know how to draw or paint.  It can be choosing colors you love, following one of our ideas, learning a new

technique-or simply experimenting to see what happens.

 

Our staff is here when you want ideas, encouragement or a little help figuring out what to do next.

 

Your project doesn’t have to be perfect.

 

It just has to be yours.

 

No grades.  No pressure. No artistic experiences required.

 

 

YES, KIDS LOVE IT HERE.

GROWN-UPS DO, TOO.

 

Create Color Art Studio is a place for kids to discover what they can make-but it definitely isn’t just for kids.

 

Come for a date night.  Meet friends after dinner.  Plan a girls’ night. Bring the family. Celebrate a birthday.  Spend an afternoon with the grandkids.  Bring your out-of-town guests. Or come by yourself and enjoy a little creative time.

 

Sometimes it’s nice to put down the phone, work with your hands and focus on something simple because you enjoy doing it.

 

You  don’t need a reason to make something.

 

 

CREATIVITY IS BETTER TOGETHER.

 

Some of our favorite Create Color Art Studio moments happen when people gather around a table and make something together.

 

We celebrate birthdays and milestones. We work with schools, Scouts and youth organizations. We help businesses bring their teams together.  We host fundraisers, private gatherings and community events.

 

And it doesn’t all have to happen inside our studio.

 

We can bring creative experiences to schools, businesses, universities, libraries, breweries, wineries, restaurants and other locations throughout Rhode Island

 

Come to us-or we’ll bring the creativity to you.
